Setting up the document
- Ensure Facing Pages is selected.
- Set the no. of columns, margins and bleeds.

Using Master Pages
- Ensure Pages window is open (Window > Pages).
- Double click A-Master to select it.

Setting up the A-Master

- Create Rows from Layout > Create Guides.
Adding Page Numbers
- Bring down vertical guide rule to where you want to place the page numbers.
- Draw a text box and set the font, including colour.
- Go to Type > Insert Special Character > Markers > Current Page Number.

- Do the same for the other page in the spread, making sure to adjust the alignment of the page number.

Other Features on the A-Master
- You may want to include other folio (recurring features),
e.g. title of the magazine

Applying the Master to Pages
- By default, the A-Master is applied to all pages.
- You can either select None or create a new Master.
- To apply a Master style, select the style at the top of the Pages window and drag it to the relevant page/s below.

Creating another Master
- Select New Master from the top dropdown menu of the Pages window.
- Base it on A-Master for commonalities.
- Creating another Master, cont.
- Design the B-Master and apply it to the relevant pages.
